More information
Details:
The Island Prostate Centre (IPC) is a registered non-profit charity dedicated to supporting men living with prostate cancer and their families on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. While IPC isn’t a medical clinic that provides sexual health treatments directly, it plays a valuable role in guiding patients through the prostate cancer journey, including helping you understand treatment effects (which can include sexual side effects) and connect with supportive care.
What this Includes:
- Prostate Health Nurse Navigator Program: One-on-one access to a nurse navigator to answer questions about prostate health, treatment choices, side effects (including how treatments like surgery or hormone therapy can affect sexual function), and supportive options.
- Peer Support & Speaker Series: Monthly support groups featuring guest speakers (e.g., urologists) and open discussion — a space where issues like sexual function, intimacy changes, and coping after prostate cancer treatment often come up in conversation.
- Educational Resources: A free resource library with booklets and guides on living with prostate cancer, survivorship, and treatment side effects, which can include information relevant to changes in sexual health post-treatment.
- Cancer Recovery & Wellness Programs: Exercise and walking groups that support overall recovery, resilience, and quality of life — all important in coping with physical and emotional impacts of prostate cancer including sexual well-being
